Downeast Medal Finals Horsemanship Challenge

Downeast Medal Finals Horsemanship Challenge:

The Downeast Medal Finals is proud to announce the DMF Horsemanship Challenge will once again be included in our show.

This class is to identify those of our junior riders who are well-rounded horse people. These individuals not only ride well but also demonstrate a great understanding of and commitment to quality horse care. The class will be divided into two sections by rider age, 12 & under and 13-17. The class will follow a three-part format starting with a written exam for both groups. The written exam will be based on the articles found in the Downeast newsletter as well as the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Study Guide. This test score will be added to the rider’s score for their open equitation class on Saturday and a practical exam. Only the top five riders from each age group, based on the written test and open equitation class, will be called back for the practical exam.

The top three from each age group will receive awards for show credit to be applied to this show only.

The Horsemanship Challenge is based on this USHJA guide as well as the content in our Downeast monthly newsletter.
