Jim Tynan Memorial Scholarship:
This scholarship will fund up to $500 toward the cost of class entry fees and stall fees for a junior or amateur adult rider at any level with a demonstrated record of dedication to improving their horsemanship in and out of the show ring. In addition to working to support their goal of competing at the Downeast Medal Finals, this rider should lead by example in sportsmanship and self-improvement especially in their knowledge of all aspects of the care of the horse. More than being a team player, this rider should also be willing to be a team leader. A caring attitude and willingness to help fellow riders and their horses, especially their younger barn-mates, are among the attributes this rider should possess. At least one reference with examples of these behaviors should be included in the application. Completed applications will be forwarded to a representative of the namesake of this scholarship who will choose the lucky recipient. Applicants do not need to have completed qualification for DMF but should have points toward qualifying.
Awarded based on need. The credit will show up on the final bill at the show office. The applicant or their parent must go to the show office to check out at the end of the show and check the bill. If the total scholarship amount is not used, the balance will go back into the scholarship fund for the following year. The funds will only be applied to the applicant’s classes, warm ups, and stall fees.
